Help Me

Hey guys, the Rhythms of Life moment is dedicated to helping us all to be mental health strong. On this program, I take a biblical approach to overcoming difficult times. Why? Because we all have them. Help me. Have you ever cried out, help me, in desperation? I have. I think we all have. but I'd like to share some thoughts about help.

Number one, asking for help is common. Don't feel less than just because you're going through a tough time. We all need help in our lives. Number two, help can come from different sources, from a friend, family member, elder, teacher, counselor, pastor, or other. I think it's vital to understand that God often sends help through people with skin on. Sometimes when we are in desperation, we cry out, help God, help me, Lord. And yet God sends help through a person. While sometimes we're looking for an angelic being or supernatural intervention, God sends people.

In Luke 10.33, God describes how a friend or neighbor or good Samaritan can be sent to help someone in need. Proverbs 3.27 and 28 says this, Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, come back tomorrow and I'll give it to you. I believe we are created as vessels to help one another. The greatest commandment is love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. But the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. Help. If you're in need, ask for help. If you know someone in need, help them. We all need help.

Ultimately, whether we are helping someone or we are asking for help, it does come from above. Psalm 121.1, I lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Hey, this was another Rhythms of Life Moment. Until next time, guna shchysh, ho, ho.
